True to Chocolate Smoothie

Vegan Yoga Retreat | Wolfs Yoga Retreats Portugal, Algarve

Chocolate for breakfast, what else can we say?! This is a super healthy raw chocolate bowl packed with antioxidants, plant based protein, vitamins, minerals and healthy fats. The raw cacao will open your heart, energize you for the day and make you smile from ear to ear.

Cacao stimulates the production of endorphins, supporting feelings of happiness and pleasure.

This is quite a heavy breakfast. We’re sure you’ll love it, but if you feel like something a little lighter, substitute the cashew nuts and hemp seeds for a cup of red berries.

Ingredients

~ one serving

  • ⅓ cup cashews
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 ½ banana
  • 5 prunes
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao
  • 5 mm fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 250ml / 1 cup of water
  • optional ⅓ cup of your favourite berries

Topping

Top with whatever you like. I love fresh pitted cherries, blackberries, mango or papaya.

Instructions

Preparation time | 5 minutes

  1. Soak the cashew nuts overnight (or at least 4 hours) to get the creaminess we are looking for.
  2. Put all ingredients except topping together in a blender and blend into a smoothie with a good blender. If you don’t have a blender, a hand blender will do. Pour it into a bowl.
  3. Top with your favourite berries, cherries, papaya, mango and/or home made muesli.

Notes

  • Soak the cashews overnight in cold water.
  • Add homemade muesli if you need the extra energy.
  • If you feel like something a little lighter, substitute the cashew nuts and hemp seeds for a cup of red berries.
  • If you don’t have raw cacao, use the classic cacao and make sure it is 100% pure without additives.
  • Not into chocolate? Substitute it for cherries, blueberries or mango.
  • More into chocolate? You can add an extra tbsp of raw cacao to make it more intense.
