Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is one of the most dynamic flowing forms of yoga, designed to harmonise and connect body, mind and spirit. Vinyasa is key to the ashtanga system : the breath is synchronized with movement and linking one posture to the another. The practice is based on the eight (ashta) -limb (-anga) Path, as described in the ancient texts of the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali.
We will practice the modified half primary series of the ashtanga yoga tradition, as taught by Sri K Pattabhi Jois. We will focus on vinyasa, asana (posture), pranayama (breath), drishti (gazing points) and bandha’s (energy locks or gates) – the tools that turn asana practice into a moving meditation. The practice purifies and strengthens the body. Expect a dynamic practice, breathwork and meditation.
